Elopak is the manufacturer of our Pure Pak packaging. It is a member of the RE100 campaign committing to sourcing 100% renewable energy that gives us a chance to save resources during the manufacturing process. It also has FSC certificate (Forest Stewardship Council) that guarantees all the logged-off trees are to be planted out again. «BPA Free» – this symbol on the package means that it doesn’t contain bisphenol or any other polymers based on it.

Pure Pak pack means only 3% of the packaging materials and 97% of the product. Our aseptic packaging allows water to preserve all the natural qualities and stay fresh, pure and cool as its completely sealed from light and air.
To form transportation batches we use carton and bioerodible tape. Big package of ergonomic WATERFUL boxes takes less space than the same litre capacity of bottled water. That makes possible transporting more water in fewer rides minimizing carbon dioxide emission.
Production process is being conducted using 100% renewable energy that requires 57% less resources than while producing plastic packages. That reduces the depletion of the ozone layer and air pollution by 28%, ocean acidification — by 37% and water reservoirs enrichment by 92% (according to Life Cycle Assessment 2018 IFEU Germany research data).

UTILIZATION

Pure Pak packages can be utilized at «EcoLine» waste collection stations — the leading waste management operator in Moscow. Here is the map of stations that accept packages for Recycling. After being collected the package is due to be completely reprocessed. The sector of recycling Pure Pack in Russia is constantly expanding, the amount of recycling plants is constantly increasing. At the moment they are not at full capacity and are ready to take on bigger volumes.
Pure Pak has a long life cycle (IFEU LIFE CYCLE assessment, Germany 2018, TELLUS USA), after reprocessing it serves in other necessary products for years. The carton part is reprocessed into cardboard and paper, reprocessed polyaluminium serves as material for household and construction items.

PAPER, CELLULOSE PRODUCTS, SECONDARY POLYMER PRODUCTS (COMPOSITE CONSTRUCTION PANELS, BOXES, HANDLES)

Sorting process is being held at EcoLine garbage-sorting stations. The package is being picked out, delivered upon the pressing pile forming machine. These materials are collected and sent to the recycling stations. To divide Pure Pak components they are sent to:
● PPM to separate the paper grains (Lipetsk, Borovichi).
● Then the polyaluminium particles are made of plastic and aluminium layers (Tambov).
● There is also recycling without separating into fractions — to particles for road works (N. Novgorod)

PURE PAK RECYCLING SCHEME

  • 1

1 person produces up to 400 kg waste per year, it takes more than 300 years for it to biodegrade. More than half of it can be recycled if utilized correctly.
  • 2

Every household should sort it’s waste into two parts: one bin is for recyclables, the other — for non recyclables. Both Pure Pak package and it’s cap goes into the bin for recyclables.
  • 3

EcoLine grey containers are used for mixed waste (food remains, personal hygiene items, package with food remains — everything non suitable for recycling). Blue containers are for dry and clean recyclables (Pure Pak/Tetra Pak, glass, plastic, metal and paper, materials that can be transformed into new products). The process of taking the trash out also happens in two stages: blue containers go to the blue trucks, mixed recyclables go to the grey one.
  • 4

These trucks leave for EcoLine waste sorting plants, where all the dry and mixed waste is unloaded to separate platforms. Loaders bring the waste to the drift belt, where it goes through stages of automatic and manual sorting, where the fractions for further recycling are being chosen. Pure Pack is pressed into piles. The materials are piling up until the commercial batch is formed after which it is being sent to recycling plants.
  • 5

Separating carton grain is the first stage of recycling Pure Pak. This is handled by the standard waste paper utilization plant (Lipetsk, Borovichi). This cardboard is recycled into paper and honeycomb cardboard.
  • 6

The remaining polythene and aluminium mix is transported to Tambov where it is recycled to post-consumer polymer particles used for manufacturing household and construction items.
  • 7

There are plants that can provide full cycle recycling: out of polymers and papers they produce road supplements based on cellulose, that is used in asphalt production (N. Novgorod).

HOW TO PREPARE RECYCLABLES FOR UTILIZATION

All waste should be checked in in dry and clean condition, pressed.

1. Getting rid of the remains of food and liquids.
2. Pressing the materials for space-saving storage.
3. Keeping the recyclables separate from mixed household waste and kitchen waste.
4. Delivering the waste into a blue EcoLine container or the net for recyclables.
